Dr Preeya Alexander

Practicing GP, Mum of Two, Author and TV Presenter

As both a doctor and mum of 2, Preeya is passionate about sharing accurate health information and empowering people to make informed decisions around health. Preeya works as a general practitioner (GP) in metropolitan Melbourne and is also involved in medical education supporting training GPs. In 2015 she was awarded the Richard Clinton Gutch medal for the highest overall score in general practice exams in the state of Victoria. Preeya uses her social media platform and blog to combat health misinformation and deconstruct complex medical topics to make them more digestible. She has built a loyal and engaged following and is the co-host of the popular cooking show, Good Chef Bad Chef.

Preeya has been featured as an expert on Sunrise, hosted 2 Catalyst episodes on ABC and continues to appear regularly on the The Drum. She is also a regular contributor to online publications such as Mamamia and other lifestyle websites, finding a way to combine her passion for medicine and her role as an educator to become a shining example of the qualified ‘expert influencer’.

Aside from her work as a GP, Preeya is passionate about gardening (particularly in the family veggie patch), cooking and travelling (preferably somewhere warm with kid friendly restaurants and awesome food!). Preeya launched her first book 'Eat Sleep Play Love' - a practical non-judgemental evidence-based book designed for parents of babies 0-2 years.

Preeya is available for TV and podcast hosting, expert medical commentary, keynote speaking, media campaigns and brand partnerships.
